TRC, BPSU win the 2017 Accounting Quiz Bowl

BALANGA CITY, Bataan – The Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) – Bataan Chapter conducted the Provincial ACCOUNTING QUIZ BOWL last September 30, 2017 at the DepEd Conference Room,Capitol Compound, this City.

The annual activity is in line with the organization’s goal to continuously hone the intellectual abilities of the accountancy students, inculcate academic consciousness among them towards attaining academic excellence and to strengthen the common tie that binds the accountancy students together.

Various schools in Bataan which offer a program of Bachelor of Science in Accountancy participated in the quiz bowl, among which are the Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU-Balanga Campus), Colegio de San Juan de Letran (Abucay Campus), Limay Polytechnic University (LPC), and Tomas del Rosario College (TRC).

Each participating school sent three students for each level of the contest. Level I was for BSA third-year students while Level II was for BSA fourth-year students. In the elimination round, a written examination with three levels of difficulty categorized as easy, average and difficult, was huddled by the contestants.

The top five students for each level who accumulated the highest score advanced to the championship round, wherein the contestants answered each question, categorized also as easy, average, and difficult, by raising their cards containing the letter of their answer.

The top three students for Level 1 were Ms. Justine Camson from BPSU (Champion), Ms. Chiara Quiroz from TRC (1^st runner up), and Ms. Joanna Marie De Guzman from BPSU (2^nd runner up). The top three students for Level II were Ms. Rachelle Anne Reyes from TRC (Champion), Mr. Renz Jerome Flores from BPSU (1^st runner up), and Ms. Danica Magcaling from TRC (2^ndrunner up). These six students received trophies, certificates, and cash prizes and they would represent Bataan Chapter in the upcoming Regional Accounting Quiz Bowl on October 13, 2017.

Some of the PICPA Officers who were instrumental to the success of the event are Ms. Abegail Lopez, President, Ms. Alicia Magpantay, VP for Membership, Ms. Belen Caparaz, Secretary, Ms. Edmarie Genotiva, Treasurer, Ms. Leonora Siasat, Comelec Chairperson & Ms. Alnie Camu, Director for Government Sector. The Chapter has lined up other projects for the rest of the year and is hopeful that they could implement them successfully.
