CITY of BALANGA, Bataan – Newly installed Vice Governor Maria Cristina Garcia said that, not even in her wildest dream did she ever think of being a politician. After the oath taking ceremony, she said in an interview that she was not really convinced at first, as what Governor Abet Garcia have said to be the substitute of Cong. Tet Garcia for the vice gubernatorial seat, but then, having been with Congressman Tet as a legislative staff in Congress since 1990, as well as the trust that the Garcia family have given her, she finally agreed to the offer.

In her message, the new Vice Governor thanked God and all the people, especially Governor Abet for all the support and who, in one way or the other, have made her journey a success, overcoming the challenges which made her even stronger.

She vowed to continue Cong Tetโ€™s Vision in the promotion of investments, employment, health and education, especially the scholarship program, which is very dear to her, having been the coordinator since then up to the term of Governor Abet.

Legislative wise, Vice Governor Cris said that the new position might be new to her but not the work, according to her, being a legislative staff for so many years to a very prominent leader and congressman, leading to outstanding bills like the petrochemical plant, oil deregulation law, conversion of the BPSU and many others, one must be tough and knowlegeable enough on parliamentary procedures.

As far as the Sangguniang Panlalawigan is concerned, Vice Governor Cris said that sheโ€™s proud of BM Jovy Banzonโ€™s performance during his short stint as acting vice governor, that is preserving the unity and cooperation among the board members and she promises to maintain the same harmonious relationship among her colleagues for as long as this will be for the best welfare and interest of the people of Bataan.
