Violators to pay P2k for over speeding/reckless driving

ORANI, Bataan – Metro Bataan Development Authority (MBDA) General Manager Charlie Pizarro, during the meeting of the Peace and Order Council updated the attendees regarding the amendment made by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan ng Bataan on the penalties for violation on Ordinance No. 4, s. 2016, An ordinance providing for the speed limits for all kinds of motor vehicles within the Bataan highways and providing penalties for violation thereof.

GM Pizarro explained that the imposition of penalty with regards to offenses has been narrowed down to confiscation of driver’s license, suspension and issuance of a citation ticket stating the violation/s therein and the payment of two thousand seventy eight pesos (P2,078) for over speeding and reckless driving.

Pizarro clarified that as per the amendment, every time a driver will be apprehended for over speeding or reckless driving, his driver’s license will be confiscated and a citation ticket will be issued to him to pay a fine of two thousand seventy eight pesos (P2,078), the same amount being charged by the Land Transportation Office (LTO) for the same offense.

Pizarro added that the MBDA has already procured 2 speed guns with camera, a printer and videos saved in the laptop to serve as evidence in cases of apprehensions for over speeding and reckless driving. They are just waiting for the citation tickets to start their operations.

With the help of the DPWH, signages on speed limits are now being readied, to be put up in strategic locations. The Provincial Engineering Office is providing a towing truck and trailer, that will be ready 24/7, rental rate is just being finalized.

Within the month of September, GM Charlie hopes that it will be “all systems go” for MBDA in the implementation of the over speeding/reckless driving ordinance in the 3 highways of the province.
