About 1,000 applicants try luck in job fair in Balanga

BALANGA City- About 1,000 applicants on Tuesday flocked the Bataan People’s Center in Balanga City to try their luck in the one-day job fair conducted by the city government.

Noriel Dacion, City Employment and Services Officer, said 27 local firms and 15 companies hiring workers for abroad participated. The Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority and the Freeport Area of Bataan in Mariveles were among the big establishments that joined.

Balanga City Mayor Jose Enrique Garcia III thanked the companies and wished the job seekers good luck.

Tree-hopping adventure to open in Bataan town

 

 

 

PILAR, Bataan- A tree-hopping adventure will soon open adjacent to the breath-taking Dunsulan Falls below historic Mount Samat in  this tourist-oriented town, the municipal mayor announced Monday.

Mayor Alice Pizarro said they have identified six trees near the falls that will serve as six legs where visitors will enjoy different fun adventure.

Among the attractions to be featured are hanging stairs upward, Elvis dangle, monkey bridge, surfboard zipline, king swing and balance swing.

The mayor said environmentalists need not worry. “Environment-friendly ito at may safety measures upang hindi masaktan ang mga punong-kahoy,” Pizarro said.

Balanga cityhall holds ‘ukay-ukay’ for Yolanda victims

BALANGA City- Some 750 workers of the Balanga City government on Monday opened an “ukay-ukay” outlet at the frontage of the cityhall aimed at raising funds for Yolanda victims in the Visayas.

City Mayor Jose Enrique Garcia III with some department heads led in the opening of the sale that will last for one week.

“Ito’y bahagi ng fund-raising ng Bigkis Balanga upang makatulong sa mga nasalanta ng bagyo. Proceeds of the sale will be added to other donations received by the cityhall and to be turned over to a relief agency for immediate transmittal to the heavily-affected areas,” Garcia said.

Bigkis Balanga is an organization of cityhall workers.

Gloria Abejar, chief of the City Social Welfare and Development, said the garage sale was an effort of city workers who donated and collected used clothes, shoes, toys, dolls, expensive imported lotions and perfumes and shirts.

“We are turning the items into cash in addition to other used clothes donated to us that we will give  to either Red Cross or Caritas,” the social worker said.

Bataan prepared for Yolanda

BALANGA City – The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office in Balanga City  on Thursday announced that Bataan was ready for super typhoon Yolanda.
