The Philippine Heart Association (PHA) Bataan chapter vice president is strongly advocating for continuous and extensive training of students and barangay officials here for cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) procedures to protect lives.
Dr. Orlando Bugarin, a leading cardiologist in Bataan, said the medical association is pursuing health advocacy in schools and grassroots levels that is a significant fraction of the emergency cardiac care system designed to save lives .
Three batches from grade 5 to grade 12 composed of some 600 students have undergone basic hands only CPR awareness campaign the other day in Samal, aiming to be one of the first CPR ready municipalities in Bataan.
Likewise, he urged the all out participation of the community and all sectors of the society in the campaign to learn the valuable consequences of cardiopulmonary resuscitation in the family in case of emergency.
Dr. Bugarin explained the importance of live saving mechanism which many deaths can be prevented by prompt recognition of cardiopulmonary arrest and notification of the emergency medical system, followed by early CPR, defibrillation which delivers a brief electric shock to the heart in an attempt to get the heart to beat normally and advance cardiac life support measures.
