Garcias lead 266th Bataan Foundation Day celebration

Gov. Joet Garcia and Vice Gov. Cris Garcia led the weeklong activities in celebration of the 266th Bataan Foundation Day.

The province of Bataan was established on January 11, 1757 by Governor-General Pedro Manuel Arandia. Gov. Garcia during the start of Laro ng Lahi event on Wednesday urged local folks to jointly celebrate the establishment of Bataan that became known to the whole country even the world for the heroism of our ancestors during World War 2 and carved a history that makes current and future generations proud.

For her part, Vice Gov. Garcia said during the Parada ng Kasaysayan at the Peoples Center, ” Hangad ko po sa pamamagitan ng iba’t-ibang makabuluhang gawa na hinanda ng ating Pamahalaang Panlalawigan sa pangunguna ng Provincial Tourism Office ay magkaroon tayo ng malalim na kaalaman at pagpapahalaga sa ating nakaraan na siyang magbibigay kabuluhan sa ating kasulukuyan at nilalayong matatag na bawat pamilyang Bataeno”.

She added, “Importante na malaman natin ang ating kasaysayan para buo ang ating loob at matapang na harapin ang ating kinabukasan sa dami ng hamon ngayon ng makabagong panahon”.

Aside from Parada ng Kasaysayan at Laro ng Lahi, activies that ran from January 6 to 13 included Dugo Ko Alay Para Sa Pamilyang Bataeno (Blood-Letting Activity), Galing Bataeno Trade Fair, Hataw Para sa Kasaysayan (Zumba Contest), Gabi ng Musika at Selebrasyon.

Participated by 11 towns and lone city, Zumba Contest was won by Orani.

Gabi ng Musika at Selebrasyon featured Mayonnaise Band.
