An expert in traffic and recipient of various national awards for being an outstanding police officer, Col. Amparo said that the Department of Public Works and Highways might have overlooked this but said that it is now timely for the DPWH to immediately construct an overpass for the sake of thousands of motorists passing through this busy and narrow intersection.

She said that no matter how efficient is the traffic personnel assigned here, the Layac junction could no longer accommodate the increasing number of vehicles coming from Bataan, SBMA, Olongapo and Zambales going to Manila and the rest of Central Luzon.

Amparo further pointed out that with this suggestion, vehicles going to Manila, Olongapo, Zambales or Southern Bataan will then pass through the overpass smoothly while public utility vehicles that load and unload passengers in Layac will pass under the overpass, resulting to smoother and orderly traffic flow.

The proposed overpass will likewise enable vehicles to pass through Layac even during floods, because Bataan and Zambales become isolated every time the Layac junction is hit by flash floods.
