With the continuous rise in the number of COVID-19 confirmed cases in the Province, despite being under the ECQ and now the MECQ, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan ng Bataan deemed it necessary to impose a liquor ban in the entire province owing to several reported incidents of people violating quarantine protocols, especially on curfews, social distancing and mass gatherings, most of which are related to liquor consumption.

Last May 6, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan ng Bataan unanimously approved Ordinance No. 4 s. 2020 declaring and imposing a liquor ban in the entire province, specifying acts in relation thereto and imposing appropriate penalties therefor.

Sponsored by Hon. Romano del Rosario, said ordinance prohibits the selling, trading whether wholesale or retail, furnishing, giving, offering, serving or buying liquor, wine or beer or any intoxicating or alcoholic beverages within the Province of Bataan; as well as the consumption of such outside the confines of their homes. Said ban remains in effect until lifted through a resolution by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan.

With a similar end in view, BM del Rosario also sponsored Ordinance No. 6 s. 2020 prohibiting any form of gambling in the Province which was also unanimously approved last May 20 which shall be in force during the period of any community quarantine in the Province.
