According to MCHLC President Lilia Tamayo, the screening happened last October of this year and the original target date of the surgery is next year. However, the doctors initiated to do the medical mission right away for a lot of people suffer from cataract and don’t get enough medical attention Due to the lack of space and equipment, the MCHLC team tied up with the Mariveles District Hospital to be the venue of free cataract surgery mission.
To date, MCHLC only offers free cataract surgery but the supplemental medicine is to availed by the patients. Most of the patients are senior citizens and expressed their gratitude towards the team of MCHLC. “It is not necessarily for the residents of Mariveles but it is for all who need our help,” MCHLC President Tamayo added.
