MARIVELES, Bataan – The annual distribution of rice to target beneficiaries province wide kicked off yesterday at the People’s Park in this industrial town. A total of 775 direct service workers received 2 cavans of rice each, covering the period January to August. Based on the Rice Subsidy Program, each beneficiary is entitled to 1 cavan of rice every 4 months. In charge personnel from the Provincial Governor’s Office assured that they will be able to finish the distribution in the remaining 10 towns and 1 component city of the province within the month of August. Beneficiaries of the rice subsidy program include: barangay tanods, members of the PNP, barangay health workers, day care workers, barangay/municipal coordinators, purok leaders, members of the bureau of fire, and KALIPI members. As a simple gesture of paying back their sacrifice and honoring their heroism, our war veterans are also among the beneficiaries but Gov. Abet gave explicit instructions that their rice subsidy should be delivered to their homes. In coordination with the DILG, PHO, PNP, DSWD, Bureau of Fire and the Bataan Community Development Foundation Inc., Gov. Abet hopes that through this program, the government can augment the income of the above mentioned beneficiaries who help the government in providing direct service to the people.
