Vice Governor Cris Garcia conducted an orientation among 57 teachers comprising the new batch of Gurong Iskolar beneficiaries.
Of the new scholars, 12 will take doctoral study and the remaining 45, masteral degrees.
Gurong Iskolar is under the Iskolar ng Bataan program of the Provincial Government of Bataan.
“Pahalagahan nyo ang oportunidad na makapag-aral pa at mapayabong ang inyong kaalaman sa pamamagitan ng Gurong Iskolar program ng provincial government”, the Vice governor told beneficiaries.
She said the late Gov. Tet Garcia launched the Gurong Iskolar program in 2005 inspired by the educational system of Finland, considered the best in the world, giving premium to mentors’ capability to teach.
Garcia, before becoming vice governor was Iskolar ng Bataan coordinator.
The Gurong Iskolar program which is in tie up with Bataan Peninsula State University has benefitted 1,383 teachers in the province since its inception in 2005.
