Mayor Garcia hosts ‘fika’ with local media

Balanga City Mayor Raquel Garcia met with local media last week, hosting a  “fika”  for open conversations and building better connection. Initially expected to be a traditional press briefing, the activity turned to be  an informal getting to know one another.

Inspired by the Swedish practice of  connecting  and conversing over coffee, the fika provided a relaxed atmosphere that encouraged open  dialogue. One by one, journalists introduced themselves.

Mayor Garcia also shared her own story, saying she hopes to cultivate stronger relationships and maintain open lines of communication between the Balanga City Government and local media.
