In a meeting held last March 9 at The Bunker, Bishop Ruperto Santos, presented to the local chief executives of the different municipalities led by Bataan League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) President Mayor Gila Garcia the guidelines they have prepared in connection to the upcoming Paschal Triduum Celebration,
Paschal Triduum, the most solemn celebration in the whole Christendom is the very core of our Christian faith, proclamation and witnessing. It is the celebration of Jesus’ passion, death and resurrection that begins with the liturgy on the evening of Maundy Thursday, reaches its high point in the Easter Vigil, and closes with evening prayer on Easter Sunday.
Among the protocols that churchgoers shall strictly observe throughout the celebration are social distancing, wearing of face masks and face shields. All traditions of the Catholic Church that require physical contact are discouraged. Detailed guidelines will be released by the Church to inform and guide the churchgoers. Those who cannot physically attend the mass, are advised to participate through online streaming.
Dinalupihan Mayor Gila Garcia, Hermosa Mayor Jopet Inton, Samal Mayor Aida Macalinao, Balanga City Mayor Francis Garcia, and Limay Vice Mayor Richie David, who attended said meeting, approved the guidelines set by the Church and jointly agreed that they will release their respective executive orders depending on the traditions usually conducted in their areas of jurisdiction.
