MOA inked to counter illegal recruiters, human traffickers

Illegal recruiters and human traffickers should think twice as the Provincial Government of Bataan and five national government agencies signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) to put a stop to the former’s nefarious activities.

In a meeting held at the Bunker last October 6, Governor Joet Garcia and town mayors exchanged ideas with the officers of the Department of Migrant Workers, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, Department of Labor and Employment, TESDA, and Criminal Investigation and Detection Group and discussed measures to safeguard the welfare of Overseas Filipino Workers.

The agencies were one in protecting OFWs victimized by illegal recruiters and human traffickers. They vowed to undertake proper coordination and use the power vested in them by implementing stringent rules and regulations to run after suspected illegal recruiters and human traffickers.

During the said event, immediate financial assistance was given to distressed OFWs affected by recent flood and typhoon.
