The Province of Bataan, through the Provincial Population Office (POPCOM-Bataan), was adjudged Champion in the “2021 The Outstanding Population Structure (TOPS) Awarding Ceremony” held in San Fernando, Pampanga on December 15, 2021. This event is in recognition of the outstanding and exemplary practices of LGUs in the implementation of the Philippine Population and Development Program (PPDP).
This is the fourth straight year of POPCOM-Bataan’s domination as the Outstanding Provincial Population Structure (Provincial Category) in Central Luzon. Other winners in the Provincial Category are the Provinces of Zambales (2nd Place) and Bulacan (3rd Place).
Moreover, POPCOM-Bataan’s three best practices likewise received special recognitions in the said awarding ceremony, namely: Population and Development Category: “SUSTAINABILITY OF THE REGISTRY OF BARANGAY INHABITANTS AND MIGRANTS”; Adolescent and Health Development Category: “SUSTAINABILITY OF THE TEEN INFORMATION CENTERS IN THE PROVINCE OF BATAAN” and Responsible Parenthood and Family Planning Category: “SYSTEMATIZATION OF RPFP DISCUSSION AND DEMAND GENERATION IN THE PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT OF BATAAN”
Executive Director Juan Antonio A. Perez III, MD of the Commission on Population and Development led the awarding of plaques and certificates of recognition to the winners. Overall the activity was facilitated by the Commission on Population and Development Region III headed by RD Lourdes Nacionales and ARD Adreal Denvel Monterona. Ms. Rossana Verdida (OIC-PPO), Ms. Will Ann Garcia (PPO III) and other personnel of POPCOM Bataan received the awards.
In her acceptance speech, Ms. Verdida, cited the significance of the full support of the Provincial Government of Bataan, through Gov. Albert Garcia, and all other partner Local Government Units and their Local Chief Executives on all the population and development programs of POPCOM-Bataan. She also encouraged everyone to further intensify POPCOM programs towards well-planned and empowered families which is the key to ensure “no one will be left behind” in every phase of development.
