“It is indeed a big inspiration for us to share God’s goodness and encouragement that amidst the pandemic, the diocese was blessed with Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice Cross awards to our clergy and piety”, said Bishop Ruperto Santos of Balanga City St Joseph Cathedral, in an interview.
The good prelate was referring to the recently conferred five Papal Awardees which include the title of Knight of St. Sylvester bestowed to Mr. Vic Quezon. Mr. Vic Quezon, a very successful businessman married to Mercedes Pangilinan- Quezon with four professional children, is an active and multi-awarded officer of the Bataan Peninsula Lions Club, Bataan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Knight of Columbus, and other civic organizations.
But with all these accolades, Quezon said that he is just a simple parishioner who believes that love for God can be shown thru helping people in need, helping and participating in the different church activities even in the cleaning of the whole church and setting a good example of a church servant, that’s why he’s very surprised though overwhelmingly happy with the papal award.
What matters most to him according to Vic being a catholic is that he sees to it that he and his whole family, with all his children’s family attend the mass every Sunday, and its a tradition to them to bond after the mass that the family will have breakfast (before the pandemic) in a nearby restaurant, updating and joking of which thereafter, they can go on separate ways.
The Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice is conferred for distinguished service to the Catholic church to people and clergy while the Papal Orders of Knighthood refers to the 5 equestrian orders of the Holy See awarded directly by the Supreme Pontiff as head of the Catholic church.
