At the forefront of the fight against smoking

BALANGA CITY, Bataan – The multi-awarded  component  city of the province , who has already attained a Hall of fame status  in the  Department of Health (DOH) Red Orchid Awards is at the forefront of Bataan’s campaign against smoking .

Speaking  before  some 100 delegates mostly medical practitioners  and  local government officials  from  the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)  at  the Justice Cayetano Arellano hall, The Plaza Hotel in this City. Governor Albert Raymond S. Garcia  yesterday stressed that the provincial government has  already created a Smoke-Free Task Force for the implementation of a provincial ordinance banning smoking, approved last year.

BALANGA CITY, Bataan —   “Smoke-related deaths will continue, unless steps are made by people and governments to at least control the proliferation of tobacco use.”

Layac overpass proposed

DINALUPIHAN, Bataan – The construction of an overpass at the strategic and busy Layac area will rid the intersection of traffic woes and result to smoother traffic flow here.

This was the constructive suggestion of Supt. Lailene Javier Amparo, chief of police of this town, saying that with the big volume of vehicles passing daily through the Layac junction, the construction of an overpass will certainly ease the monstrous traffic along the area.

New FAB investor to employ 30,000 workers

   BALANGA CITY, Bataan – A leading shoe manufacturer is set to invest at the Freeport Area of Bataan (FAB) in Mariveles town and will employ 30,000 workers.

   Third termer Mayor Jose Enrique “Joet” Garcia III of this component city, last Friday told Bataan newsmen in a press briefing at the Garcia residence, that Stella Footwear International, a Hongkong-based multinational company chose the FAB for their expansion in the Philippines.

Poultry farm owners warned closure for swarm of flies

PROVINCIAL CAPITOL, Bataan – Provincial officials yesterday warned poultry farm owners of the possible closure of their poultry farms if they continue to ignore warnings against the swarm of flies in the province.

Board member Gaudencio Ferrer said they had already issued the warning after the public complained about the proliferation of flies pestering residents in host communities. Poultry farm owners can easily contain the flies if they want to since they are well-financed by their financiers, newsmen learned.
