About 151 people joined in the successful planting activity. Participants included Orani Water District employees, OWDEE Coop employees , Sangguniang Barangay ng Tala, Philippine Army Balanga and Tala, Orani Detachment, Bureau of Fire, Rotary Club of Orani, Jollibee employees, Knights of Columbus, Daughters of Mary Immaculate, Municipal Fisheries Aquatic Resources Management Council, Kapatirang Mangingisda at Makakalikasan ng Centro I at Centro II (KAMANCE I and II), Suhay Foundation Orani, and Orani National High School Annex faculty and students.
Last February, OWD celebrated its anniversary with a fun run for a cause raising more than P74 thousand to fund the water district’s reforestation program. Andres explained that their reforestation effort of the Tala watershed area aims to preserve the aquifers under it, the source of potable water that they distribute to businesses and households in Orani and nearby areas.
“We have to protect and preserve our source of water by reforesting watershed areas”, he stressed.
