Senior citizen groups serenade WWII Veterans

Balanga City, Bataan – In commemoration of the 72nd Araw ng Kagitingan which falls on the 9th day of April, also dubbed as Fall of Bataan, the Bataan Tourism Center headed by Ms. Christina Banzon, and the Bataan Tourism Council Foundation, Inc. chaired by Mrs. Vicky Garcia in cooperation with the Provincial Social Welfare & Development Office under Mrs. Marilyn Tigas, sponsored a Chorale Competition participated in by the members of the Bataeno Federation Senior Citizens Association of the Philippines, Inc. and Bataan League of OSCA (Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs). The songs they all had chosen were nationalistic to depict their love for the country and in line with the theme, “Balik Tanaw Sa Sakripisyo ng Beterano, Gabay sa Landas ng Pagbabago”.

Mahigit 3,000 katao nakapanood nang libre

   BALANGA CITY, Bataan – Mahigit sa tatlong libong katao ang nakapanood nang libre sa rematch fight nina Pambansang Kamao Congressman Manny Pacquiao at Timothy Bradley kahapon sa People’s Center Capitol Compound Balanga City, Lalawigang ito.

   Ang laban ay inihandog nina People’s Champ Congressman Tet Garcia 2nd District, Bataan Governor Albert Garcia at Balanga City Mayor Joet Garcia para sa ating mga kababayang gustong mapanood nang libre, ang ating Pambansang Kamao kahapon.

   DINALUPIHAN, Bataan- Despite having a lady leader, this town has been always the first to launch various programs aimed at improving the quality of life of the people here and the residents here attributed these to the sincerity to serve of their innovative mayor Maria Angela ” Gila “S. Garcia.

   Although she used to  roam around the Makati area during her youthful days, Mayor Garcia or Gila as she is fondly called by friends and relatives, did not mind going down the ricefields to lead planting of high breed palay under the scorching heat of the sun; She is probably the first ever mayor to do such, earning the admiration of newsmen.

DPWH releases P54.8 M for Balanga flood project

   Mt SAMAT, Bataan- Answering clamor from Bataan leaders for the speedy solution to the flooding problem here, a top official of the Department of Public Works and Highways revealed that the DPWH has released an initial amount of P54.8 million for the dredging of the Cataning river here.

   DPWH Regional Director Antonio Molano told Gov. Abet S Garcia that the said amount had been released for the immediate dredging of the Cataning River, the main water ways that overflowed last rainy season, causing flash floods along the City proper. 

PNOY salutes dedication of WWII veterans, present-day soldiers

   MT. SAMAT, Pilar, Bataan- Pres. Benigno Aquino 3rd paid tribute to World War II veterans and present-day soldiers for their dedication during the commemoration of the 72nd Araw ng Kagitingan on top of Mt. Samat in Pilar, Bataan.

   “Beterano at kawal Pilipino, saludo sa inyo sambayanang Filipino,” the Chief Executive said.

   “Maganda sinabi ng Pangulo dahil pinupuri niya kagitingan namin kaya lang sana dagdagan ang pension namin dahil walang increase, ‘yon din,” WWII veterans Eugenio Ramos of Bulacan and Felimon Villanueva of Quezon Province said.
